Known for her Holistic Approach to Family Law, and referred to as "the Divorce Mystic," Pamela combines her legal knowledge, intuitive abilities, experience and training to help her clients reach uniquely tailored marital agreements and move through the divorce process with dignity, clarity, grace and ease.
As an experienced family law attorney, Pamela is a first hand witness to the destruction caused by the traditional litigation system. In an adversarial process, conflict too often overrides people's highest priorities and values. The result is a negative, far reaching, ripple effect. Understanding the trauma - emotional financial and legal, surrounding divorce, Pamela dedicated her practice to the idea that there is a better way to help clients achieve true closure and prepare for life after divorce.
It is Pamela's mission to shift the perception of divorce from a fear-based process and to evolve the way individuals perceive divorce and how families are treated in the process.
Pamela received her Juris Doctorate (cum laude) from the Columbus School of Law in 1998. She has been an intuitive divorce attorney / mediator / coach for over twenty-five years. Pamela was certified by the Supreme Court of Virginia as a Certified Mediator, and was a pioneer - along with other family law colleagues, in bringing the Collaborative divorce process to the D.C Metropolitan area as a recognized, codified, process in all three jurisdictions.
Pamela is the past President of the Virginia Collaborative Professionals and served eleven years on the board of the Northern Virginia Collaborative Professionals. She is also a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
The Collaborative Divorce Process and Soul-to-Soul Mediation™ are two wonderful alternative pathways to resolution.
Pamela believes in that the Collaborative Divorce Process and Divorce Mediation are two positive alternative approaches to traditional litigation. These two approaches honor Pamela's strong belief that a family remains a family even in divorce - it is simply transformed.
Pamela's techniques and style combines over twenty five years as an intuitive divorce attorney and mediator and a lifetime of spiritual practice and training. Pamela has made a personal commitment to only participate in resolving disputes respectfully.
Pamela views conflict as an opportunity for growth and the evolution of our soul's journey. Whether she serves as an attorney or mediator, she helps individuals avoid the human drama associated with the traditional divorce process, helping her clients move past any trauma - find true healing - so they can make a smooth transition and step confidently into the future their soul is leading them to discover.
Pamela embraces the belief that issues related to family law matters can, and should, be settled without court intervention. Over ninety-five percent of all cases that commence with litigation settle before trial. The majority of the settlements between litigating parties are negotiated under pressure, fear, and following months of protracted litigation - such results are usually acts of surrender rather than creative, inspired outcomes. Moreover, these settlement almost never truly meet the unique needs of the family and are rarely honored.
Alternatively, clients may chose to avoid the financial expense and emotional cost associated with months of divisive, counter-productive litigation by seeking the benefits of a Collaborative Divorce, a Negotiated Settlement Agreement, or using the Mediation Process.
Clients who prefer a non-adversarial approach in the handling of their family law matter rely on Pamela's experience to keep them out of the courtroom. Clients who remain focused on the main "interests" of each party as they "co-design" the future they want to see for their "redefined family," avoid spending years trapped in the negative cycle of the litigation process. When the dust settles for these individuals, they find themselves at peace and settled with the outcome.
Pamela helps her clients reach tailored and durable settlement agreements without court intervention. She helps clients design parenting plans that meet the needs of the children and each of the parties. Using her experience of working with hundreds of couples over the years, she helps parties develop a co-parenting relationship that maintains the dignity of the family in two homes, while respecting each party's individual nature and need for privacy.
With the right help and mindset, you can have a peaceful, non-adversarial divorce that avoids the human drama typically associated with the divorce process.
